Set out gauge wire in the form of a candy cane, curving the top so that it bends inwards.
Place or string three large jingle bells through one end of the 15-inch gauge wire.
Group the three bells as closely together as possible on the gauge wire at the top end, leaving an inch of space at the top. They will come out in different directions on the wire, making for a full candy cane.
String three ball clusters, alternating between colors and sizes, to the top of the cane, stopping when the bells make contact with another; first, a cluster of larger bells and then a cluster of smaller bells of another color. By alternating size, the bells will stay snug on the wire.
String the bells until the string is nearly full, leaving an inch at the top and bottom.
Cut off a small piece of the wire, about 3 inches, and tie one end to the bottom of the larger gauge wire where it meets the last bell.
String the other end of the wire through the bottom two bells, and tie it back to the gauge wire holding the bells, creating a knot between the two wires and the bottom bells. Repeat the step for the top bells using a 3-inch piece of the smaller gauge wire.
Cut off the extra wire at both points where the second wire ties together the bells to the longer gauge wire holding the bells.
