Make a panda bear mask or wall hanging with a paper plate, black and white construction paper, scissors, glue, black marker and craft stick. Use the black construction paper to cut half circles for the panda's ears, an oval for the nose and large circles for the eye markings. If you're making a wall hanging, cut white circles from white paper for the eyes. Glue the ears, eye markings, eyes and nose onto an upside-down paper plate to make your panda face. Draw a mouth and pupils onto the face with a black marker. If you are making a mask, punch out eye holes from the plate and glue a craft stick holder to the bottom. For a wall hanging, punch a hole in the top of the plate and tie a loop of fishing line or yarn through it.
Make a panda puppet with a brown paper bag, black and white construction paper, scissors and glue. First, take the white paper and cut a large circle for the panda's head and two small circles for the eyes. Next, take the black paper and cut out a rectangle for the chest, two long ovals for the arms, two half circles for the ears, one small oval for the nose, two large circles for the eye markings and two small circles for the pupils. Glue the ears, eye markings, nose, eyes and pupils onto the white paper circle you're using as the head and then glue the head to the bottom flap of the paper bag. Glue the chest and arms onto the bag underneath the bottom flap. Open up the bag and stick your hand in to use it as a panda puppet.
Have children color or paint a printout of a panda bear. Although the panda's colors are black and white, encourage the children to be creative and use whatever colors they please. Panda printouts can teach children about the bear's habitat in the forests of China and its diet of bamboo shoots and leaves. Include images of the panda's habitat on the printout so children can color both the panda and its forest.
Teach children about the letter "P" through a panda art lesson by having them color a printout of a panda with the letter "P" next to it. Hang their creations on the wall, fridge or a classroom bulletin board. Also, teach children about shapes by having them create a cutout construction paper panda face using all circles: circle head, ears, nose, eyes and eye markings. Or have them create a panda face using hearts: the head and ears can be upside-down hearts, the nose can be a small heart and the eye markings can be diagonal hearts.
