How to Become a Anime Drawing Expert

Anime refers to a motion-picture animation style originally developed in Japan. Becoming an anime drawing expert requires a significant amount of training and an ability to understand Japanese fluently if you plan to work for a company in Japan. Learning to draw from an accredited art school will make it possible for you to develop as an artist and improve your anime drawing abilities. Studying on your own has its limitations, and to be a true expert, you must master beginning art concepts such as lines, vanishing points and basic shading techniques. Art school will provide you with options, such as teaching, while you develop your skills and become an expert in anime.

Instructions

    • 1

Practice drawing male and female characters each day. Continually expand your palette and draw new characters while working on old characters. This will improve your imagination and make it possible to draw quickly when necessary.

    • 2

Enroll in drawing classes at your local community college or college. If you are still in high school, see if your school offers elective courses in drawing. Because anime doesn't use paints, it is best to concentrate on your drawing skills.

    • 3

Build a portfolio of anime drawings. Make sure that all of the characters are original and not simply portraits. Show real-life scenes, action and movement in your drawings.

    • 4

Attend a university such as Nihon Kogakuin College in Japan to study anime in a college program. By enrolling in college, you will meet fellow animators and make connections to make it possible to improve your chances of landing a job as an anime expert.

    • 5

Work for free by applying for an internship while you are attending school. An internship will give you the valuable real-world experience you need to succeed as an anime expert.

    • 6

Enter contests such as the Wacom Anime Contest. Winning contests will add to your list of viable experience and provide you with some extra cash to buy the supplies you need to continue as an artist.
