Where in northern Europe was Lord of the Rings filmed?

The Lord of the Rings movies were primarily filmed in New Zealand, not northern Europe.

While some scenes were filmed in other locations, New Zealand's stunning landscapes provided the backdrop for most of Middle-earth, including:

* Mount Ngauruhoe (Mount Doom)

* Tongariro National Park (Mordor)

* Fiordland National Park (Rivendell)

* The Waitomo Caves (Mines of Moria)

While the film was inspired by the natural beauty of Europe, most of the filming took place in New Zealand.
