This is followed by the year the award was given and the category it was awarded in. For example, the inscription for Best Picture 2023 would read:
"Academy Award of Merit
2023
Best Picture"
There is also a smaller inscription on the base of the statuette that reads:
"To the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences"
