How to Match the Tempo in NI Massive
Native Instruments' virtual synthesizer Massive is an essential tool for many drum 'n' bass, breakbeat and dubstep producers. Matching the tempo of Massive's internal clock to the tempo set in your digital audio workstation, or DAW, allows you to sync various elements of the synth to your song. For example, you can time a filter on the bassline to open up on every quarter-note, or set a string track to gradually increase in pitch over an eight-bar time period. Ordinarily, Massive will match the tempo of the song automatically; if, for any reason, it gets out of sync, you can easily re-match it to your DAW's tempo.
