Theatergoers can see musicals in Syracuse, New York year-round. The city's venues offer Broadway tours, locally-produced shows and seasonal musicals. In addition, the highly-reputed Syracuse University theater department also produces musicals that are open to the public. Local children's theaters offer family-appropriate programs, and youth theater schools give young students of musical theater opportunities to perform.

      Famous Artists Broadway Series produces tours of major Broadway musicals in Syracuse, New York. Productions take place in the Mulroy Civic Center Theater, which is one of the venues at the Oncenter, (oncenter.org).

      Syracuse Stage produces six shows each year, one or two of which are musicals. They always do a musical during the holidays; these shows include both professional actors from New York City and students of the Syracuse University Drama Department.

    • Community theaters are volunteer organizations that cast amateur performers from the area instead of hiring career performers from New York City.
