  1. Chicago: The Musical

    • Opening on November 14, 1996, "Chicago: The Musical" is the "sixth longest running production in Broadway history," according to Dan Bacalzo in an article for Theater Mania. A revival of the Bob Fosse-directed and choreographed "Chicago," which opened in 1975, "Chicago: The Musical" is a tale of murder, celebrity and the glamorization of criminals set in Chicago during the Jazz Age. The revival has earned six Tony Awards, including Best Direction, Best Musical Revival and Best Choreography. Its famous musical numbers, based on vaudevillian performers, include "All That Jazz," "Razzle Dazzle," "Class" and "All I Care About."

    Mamma Mia!

    • "Mamma Mia!" is a Broadway musical based on the songs of ABBA, a Swedish pop group famous for hits like "Dancing Queen," "Take A Chance On Me," "Knowing Me, Knowing You" and the titular song. Originally opening in London's West End in 1999, "Mamma Mia!" hit Broadway's Winter Garden Theatre in the fall of 2001 and is still running as of 2010. "Mamma Mia!" concerns a young woman named Sophie, about to be wed, who is on the lookout for her biological father. The musical was nominated for several Tony Awards in 2002, including Best Musical.

    Wicked

    • The Wicked Witch of The West gets to share her side of the story in the Broadway musical "Wicked." Based on Gregory Maguire's book "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West." "Wicked" concerns the early life of the Wicked Witch of "The Wizard of Oz" fame. "Wicked" opened at the Gershwin Theatre on Broadway in October 2003. In 2004, Idina Menzel won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Composer Stephen Schwartz won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album for his work on "Wicked" in 2005. The musical is famous for songs like "Defying Gravity."
