How did jem feel about Atticus after the dog incident?

After the dog incident, Jem felt a sense of disappointment and disillusionment with his father, Atticus. Jem had always idolized his father and looked up to him as a symbol of justice and morality. However, when Atticus chose to spare the life of the rabid dog, Tim Johnson, Jem felt that his father had failed to uphold his own principles and had shown a lack of courage in the face of adversity. Jem struggled to reconcile this new perception of his father with the heroic figure he had always believed him to be.
