Colorado may be known for the majestic Rocky Mountains and the world-class skiing, most people don't associate the state with Broadway musicals or theatrical productions. In fact, Colorado is home to several dinner theaters throughout the state that offer performances of award-winning musicals, as well as supper clubs offering interactive murder mysteries.
  1. Adams Mystery Playhouse

    • Those who like a side of murder with their entree should try the Adams Mystery Playhouse in Denver, the state's capital. The playhouse offers interactive murder mysteries where guests will not mingle and dine the show's actors, but they will all work together to solve the murder. The shows are appropriate for all ages and last three hours. Guests will enjoy a lavish buffet that features baked ziti, fresh fruit, salads, chicken dishes as well as a variety of desserts. Guests can even enjoy a cocktail or non-alcoholic beverage at the "Casket Bar."

      The playhouse performs mystery dinner theaters ever Friday and Saturday throughout the year, however they sometimes offer weeknight and matinée shows.     Boulder's Dinner Theatre

    • Those itching to see a Broadway show, but who can't make it to New York City should drive to Boulder's Dinner Theatre, a half hour northwest of Denver in Boulder. The theater's main stage offers such Broadway classics at "Peter Pan," "Shout," "Hello Dolly" and "Cats." Guests can also take part in the Monday and Tuesday cabaret series, a two person show about a small town in Texas called "Greater Tuna." The dinner portion of the evening includes appetizers such as shrimp cocktail, entrees like bean and corn tamales or prime rib and desserts like cheesecake and chocolate mousse pie.

      The theatre offers evening shows Tuesdays through Fridays and lunch and dinner show Sundays and Saturdays. Children four years old and younger are discouraged from attending main stage performances. Ticket prices include the price of bread, garden salad and the guests choice of entree. The playhouse features musicals such as "Bye, Bye Birdie," "Oliver!" and "The King and I." Guests can indulge in appetizers such as brie baked in puff pastry, entrees like chicken pot pie or pot roast and desserts like tiramisu or cinnamon roll bread pudding. They also offer options for children such as chicken tenders and corn dogs.

      The playhouse offers performances Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Ticket prices include the price of the show, freshly baked bread, soup or salad and the entree of the guest's choice.
