Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle was founded in 1979. It has remained at its Fourth Street location in Royal Oak since its inception. The Club is famous for establishing a "three tiered" talent line up that has since been adopted by the industry. The evening showcases new talent first. The audience is warmed up with a newcomer followed by a more seasoned comedian. The evening culminates in the performance of a headliner, or comedian with a following. Mark Ridley's is one of the few Metro Detroit venues that hosts an open mic night.
