Comedy Clubs in Northeast Ohio

Ohio is noted for its famous actors and comedians, like Paul Newman, Drew Carey, and Arsenio Hall. Stand-up comedy clubs in northeast Ohio have given several amateur comedians their break into the big time. Many big-name comics, like Jerry Seinfeld, have performed in the clubs in northeast Ohio. Comedy clubs offer a night of fun and food when you want a change from the dinner-and-a-movie routine.

  1. Funny Stop Comedy Club

    • Voted "Best Live Comedy" three years in a row (2008, 2009, 2010) by MyFox Cleveland's Hot List, the Funny Stop has something going on all the time. Comedic talents like Rob Allen and Mike Green have graced the stage at the Funny Stop. Offering an 8:30 p.m. show Tuesdays through Thursdays, the fun doubles with two shows on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. There's a two-beverage minimum per person and a reasonably priced food menu available at each show. Every Thursday, the Funny Stop offers free admittance to anyone serving in the U.S. military.

    The Cleveland Improv Comedy Club and Restaurant

    • The Cleveland Improv is open to adults over 21. This northeast Ohio comedy club has attracted comics like D. L. Hughely and Jeff Dunham and his puppets. Thursday evening shows start at 8:00 p.m. There are two shows on Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. The Sunday show starts at 7:00 p.m. Once a month, the club offers an open mic session for up-and-coming talent. After passing an audition, newcomers have three minutes to make the audience laugh.

      The Cleveland Improv offers a full menu from appetizers to desserts. The club seats people on a first-come first-served basis, with preference given to those who make dinner reservations. If you want the best seats, make dinner reservations and arrive at least an hour before the show.

    Hilarities

    • Since 1986, nationally recognized comics have performed at the Hilarities Comedy Hall. Hilarities gained national exposure when it played host to Showtime's "Comedy Club Network." The club also hosted an HBO special staring Rita Rudner and Blake Clark, and Tim Allen and Sinbad have also performed at Hilarities. Shows are on Sundays at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. and 10:15 p.m.

      Hilarities has a restaurant with a full menu. There's a limited appetizer menu available during shows, as well as a two-item minimum per person. Non-alcoholic beverages are also served. You must be at least 21 to gain entrance to club.
