Dr. Grins brings in top comedians from around the country, as well as local comedic talent and theater acts. National comedic talents such as Bobcat Goldthwaith and Aries Spears have performed at Dr. Grins. Dr. Grins is part of a large entertainment complex known as The B.O.B. that includes bars, restaurants and nightclubs in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. Comedy showtimes as of 2010 are Thursday at 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $5 and $25.

Dog Story Theater, located on the outskirts of downtown Grand Rapids, hosts comedy night on Mondays, showcasing well-known and up-and-coming stand-up comedians. The theater also puts on improv and sketch comedy shows. Comedy shows are at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., with an open-improv session at 10 p.m when anyone can jump in and be a part of the show.
