How to Connect a Boss JS-5 Jam Station to a Computer

The Boss JS-5 Jam Station is a computerized musical backing machine for electric guitarists and bassists who want to practice and record with accompaniment. The Jam Station is programmed with hundreds of pre-recorded songs and memory space to record approximately 35 minutes of digital audio. Two standard stereo output jacks connect to a computer for recording the finished composition to a hard drive. An adapter cable and computer with an audio soundcard are needed for the connection.

  • Electric guitar or bass with cable
  • Stereo cables
  • Y-adapter with two standard audio jacks and one mini-plug
  • Computer or laptop with Line IN sound card

Instructions

      Plug the guitar cord from the instrument into the guitar jack on the Jam Station.

      Connect the white and red plugs on one end of the stereo cables into the left and right audio output jacks on the Jam Station.

      Hook up the plugs on the other end of the cable into the two jacks on the Y-adapter.

    • 4

      Insert the small plug on the Y-adapter into the computer's Line IN or REC (record) jack.
