Insert the black and white jacks of the RCA cable into the "Line-Out" sockets on the back of your tape deck. Plug the mini-jack end into the line-in on the back of your computer, or the headphone socket if using a laptop.
Open Cool Edit by clicking on its icon. Go to the "Edit" menu and select "Single Wave Form." Click on "File," then "New," and select "48000 Hz." Insert the tape you wish to convert to CD in your cassette deck. Click "Record" in Cool Edit and then press "Play" on your tape deck.
Click on "Edit" in Cool Edit once the recording has finished. Select "Convert Sample Type," and "44100 Hz" from the list; the sample rate that is used for CDs.
Set the "Low-High Quality" slider in Cool Edit to the best setting. Check the "Pre/Post Filter" check box. Make sure that all channels are set to "Stereo."
Select the "16 Bit" resolution, then click on "File," then "Save" and save it as a "wav" file.
Open your CD-burning software. Import the saved file into the program. Open the file in your music-burning software, insert a blank CD-R into your computer's disk-drive and select the "Burn Disk" option in your CD-bBurning software.
