How to Record From CD to Tape

Before CDs became the medium of choice in the mid-1990s, tapes were the only way one could listen to one's own music in a car. As time has progressed, most of the tapes that were enjoyed back in the '80s and '90s have begun to show their age, and their sound quality has suffered. If you have a car that can only play tapes or you like their vintage look and sound, you can easily transfer your favorite CD to cassette.

Plug the other end of the cable into the microphone input on your tape recorder.

    • 3

Insert your desired CD into the CD player.

    • 4

Insert a tape into your tape recorder. Rewind the tape.

    • 5

Set the volume knob on your CD player to halfway. This will allow your sound to be transferred without peaking. If this turns out to be too soft, record again and turn up the CD player's volume.

    • 6

Press "Record" or the red dot on your tape player.

    • 7

Press "Play" on your CD player. Your tape will begin recording the contents of the CD.
