Specifications for the Behringer DSP8000

The Behringer DSP8000 is a discontinued outboard equalizer for processing recorded or live audio signal. An equalizer is an audio tool that boosts or cuts selected frequencies in a sound. Equalizers can add color to sound that was previously buried by other frequencies. The Behringer DSP is a graphic equalizer, which means it displays signals visually on a screen.
  1. Equalization

    • The Behringer DSP is a 31-band equalizer with a frequency range of 20 hertz to 20,000 hertz. The DSP boosts or cuts in increments of 0.5 decibels and can go from -16 decibels to +16 decibels at any given frequency. The device is also built with a brickwall limiter to reduce clipping from hot signals and an automatic feedback destroyer for cleaner outputs.

    Ins and Outs

    • The DSP uses 1/4-inch cables and XLR cables to connect instruments such as a guitar or microphone. The device also has MIDI ports for MIDI capabilities. In addition, there are optional digital audio inputs and outputs on the device that are AES/EBU transformer balanced. The DSP is also built with phantom power for condenser microphones.

    Extra Features

    • The Behringer DSP is loaded with extra features, such as a digital noise gate that ranges from -44 decibels to -96 decibels, a digital delay option lasting up to two and a half seconds, and a feedback destroyer that removes grain and distortion from hot outputs. These features can be used in conjunction with the on-board equalizer.
