How to Use a Samson Mic

Samson started a new wave of high-quality home studio microphones that use USB ports to connect to digital audio recording software. Microphones connect via USB cables to provide 16-bit, 48kHz audio directly to your computer. This eliminates the need for additional mixers and digital conversions and the large diaphragm condenser designs assure superior sound, while dynamic mics offer handheld mic convenience. The G-Track microphone even offers a digital interface for other sound sources as well.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect your Samson mic using the USB cable that came with your package. If your microphone has a power indicator LED, it will light to indicate connection. In either Mac or PC environments, the microphone will be recognized and universal software installed.

    • 2

Select your Samson microphone as your input source. In Windows, access the mic through Control Panel and selecting "Sounds and Audio Devices." On a Mac computer, open System Preferences, Sound Preferences and select your Samson mic under Inputs. Your microphone is ready to use.

Adjust input gain by raising or lowering the fader in your computer's audio control panel. When you enter your digital audio workstation, the Samson microphone will be the default audio input on any new track. Samson may have additional software available for advanced features on your microphone. Check its website for further information (see Resources).
