How to Use the Mic in the Music Studio

When creating music with Music Studio, there are a variety of inputs that can be used, including MIDI and program music. You can also record instruments and vocals directly to the software using a microphone. Music Studio is a very user-friendly program, and makes recording audio with a microphone almost effortless. Once you are finished with your recording, you can easily bounce down the tracks in a variety of formats, including WAV and MP3.

      Connect the microphone to the computer. If using a USB microphone, plug the microphone into the computer and allow Windows to automatically detect and install the drivers. If using an analog microphone, plug it into the microphone jack on the computer. The microphone jack will accept a 1/8-inch input, so if you are using an XLR cable or 1/4-inch cable, you will need an adapter to connect the microphone to the computer.

      Right-click on the speaker icon beside the clock on the taskbar and select “Recording Devices.” Right-click on your microphone and click “Enable.” You should now be able to hear your microphone through your speakers.

      Open the Music Studio software. Click “Insert” at the top of the screen and click “Track.”

      Click the “Arm For Record” button on the track that you would like to record to. The button is located to the right of the track title, and has two red circles on it.

      Click the “Record” button, located on the transport bar to begin the recording. Record your audio through the microphone and click stop when you are finished.
