How to Use a Roland MV-8800 External Monitor

Roland’s MV-8800 Portable Studio combines a number of standard audio recording features into one self-contained unit. This unit's portability is a distinct advantage for musicians who want to record live performances or impromptu jam sessions. The one drawback that comes with the MV-8800’s small footprint is its relatively small display screen. The built-in LCD display is only adequate for live recording and simple editing functions. Using an external VGA monitor and the included mouse makes final mix-down work a more pleasant experience.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the external monitor’s input cable to the VGA port on the back panel of the MV-8800.

    • 2

Turn the monitor on. The monitor displays the “Roland MV-8800” logo.

    • 3

Press the “System” button on the MV-8800’s top panel.

    • 4

Use the arrow keys to move the cursor to the lower row of icons. Press the “F3” key below the LCD screen to select “Disp/Mouse.” The user interface will display on the external monitor.

    • 5

Use the mouse to operate the interface. Click and drag to move the slider bars. Click and release the “+” or “-“ icons to adjust buttons.
