Turn on the TD-20 controller using the power button on the back input board. Scroll through the different sets of MIDI drum set patches by continuing to strike the drum pads while pressing the "+" and "-" buttons on the top of the module. Continue to scroll until a desired drum set is found, then play the drum pad while exporting the sound to headphones or a speaker.
Create custom drum set sample collections. Press and hold the "Edit" button until it flashes. Strike the pad to be edited, scroll every sound on the module with the "+" and "-" buttons and when a desired MIDI sound is found, touch the "Edit" button once more. Continue this method for every pad, then select the "Save" button to save the kit under one of the 25 open save files on the module.
Select a kit to record with. Record onto the actual module with the recording buttons by selecting the recording button -- this is the button with the circle attached to the triangle. Play whatever should be recorded, and then press the stop button -- the square. Touch the "Save" button to save the recording, or simply repeat the process to record over the last recording.
Plug the USB cable into the module and then into the computer to record directly to a recording program. In the program, select the "Import Media" tab and then play as normal to record the samples directly to a mixing track.
