Using a studio monitor is a simple and cost-efficient way to play your electric guitar without investing in an expensive amp. Tone junkies may scoff. Connect your studio monitors to your amplifier using speaker wire.

Plug your 1/4 inch mono cable into the "input" port behind your monitor amp. Guitar amps function in mono.

Set the monitor amp output settings to "mono." There are switches behind the amp for this.

Plug the other end of the 1/4-inch mono cable into your guitar and turn down the guitar volume.
