Click on the "keyboard" tab to compose on a piano or keyboard, or click on "instruments” and select from such choices as guitar, bass, saxophones or harmonica. The keyboard is a good choice to start with for your first time using Music Studio.
Practice playing a few notes on the keyboard. The screen will show a split screen image of two keyboards: upper and lower. The area of the keyboard that you are able to play on is highlighted in the screen below the keys. If you want to access another portion of the keyboard, touch the highlighted area and move your finger left or right to access that region.
Push the metronome settings button and choose a tempo for your song. Click the plus or minus signs to set the beats per minute. Start with 88 beats and click the "preview” button to see if it is a comfortable pace for you. Adjust this up or down.
Click the "record" button when you are ready to play your song. If you make a mistake, you can choose to keep going and edit it out later or you can click the "stop" button and then record a new version.
Click "record" and play another keyboard track to complement what you have recorded, if desired. You may want to record a simple melody to play under the main track. Finish your song and click the "stop" button. Click the "track" button and you will see colored bars representing each version of recording you made.
Click "play" and watch the progress bar move while listening to the track. If you made a mistake and kept recording, edit this section out. Note where the mistake ends and the correct section begins. Highlight this area with your cursor and press the red "X" button to delete it. Listen to the new version. If you do not like it, push the "undo" button and try again.
Click the "mix" button in the tracks window and highlight one track at a time, to mix your song if you recorded multiple tracks such as the main section, melody and rhythm. Play them and use the volume toggle switch to set the sound level for each track.
Play the entire song in its full and mixed version. Make any final changes. For example, return to the "instruments" tab and select a drum in order to add a beat to your song or select a guitar to add chords to the music.
Click "export" and select how you would like to send the song. You can send it by email or upload it to a cloud type server to share with friends.
