How to Remove Vocals From an MP3 With Adobe SoundBooth CS3

Adobe SoundBooth includes a preset option to remove vocals. This function can be accessed from the Effects menu and works by cutting the audio frequencies where vocals normally reside on an MP3 audio track. Note that removing vocals from an MP3 track can reduce the sound quality of the file. The extraction process is straightforward and can be performed in just a few minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Adobe SoundBooth on your computer. Click the "File" button and select "Import." Navigate in the browser window and select the MP3 track you want to edit. Wait several minutes while the track loads into the program.

    • 2

Click the audio track once to select the entire song. Click the "Effects" menu and choose the "Stereo Image" option.

    • 3

Click on the "Center Channel Extractor" option. A new window opens. Click the "Presets" drop-down menu at the top of the window. Select the "Vocal Remover" option and then click the "Apply" button. Click the "Play" button at the bottom of the program window. The vocals are no longer heard in the mix.
