How to Remove Vocals From WAV Music

You can remove vocals from Wav files using music creation software such as Audacity, Cakewalk and Florida Studio. Audio Wav files must be in stereo format for the vocal removal process to be applied. By using music creation software, you can split audio Wav tracks and eliminate the vocal processing on both the left and right speakers.

  1. Remove Vocals Using Audacity

      Open the software and select "File" and "Open" from the top menu. Select the location of the Wav file from which you wish to remove vocals, and click "OK."

      Select "Effects" from the top menu and choose "Vocal Remover" from the drop-down menu.

      Click the drop-down arrow and select the "Simple" option. Click "OK."

    Remove Vocals Using Cakewalk

      Open the software and click "File" from the top menu and "Import." Click the arrow in the "Track Field" and select "Split Track" from the options. The Wav file will split into a "Left" and "Right" track.

      Click to highlight the "Right" track and select "Effects" from the top menu. Choose the "Invert" option to apply the effect.

      Highlight the "Left" and "Right" tracks and set them to "Mono" by clicking the left arrow located in the "Track Window."
