How to Remove a Voice From an MP3 File

Typically, a recording consists of multiple layers for each of the instruments. When a recording is converted to a smaller, more user-friendly format such as MP3, all the layers are compressed onto a single track. With the right music software, it is possible to single out the vocal track and remove it to create an instrumental.
