M-Audio's NRV10 is a hybrid, 10-channel mixer that combines analog and digital features. The NRV10 has both analog and digital outputs and can interface with Pro Tools via FireWire. The NRV10 can capture digital audio at up to 24-bit and 96-Khz quality. This mixer has up to eight inputs -- including two stereo inputs and four mono inputs -- with five of them capable of accepting XLR mic or 1/4-inch instrument cables. The NRV10 comes with Pro Tools M-Powered and a software-based mixer called NRV10 InterFX. InterFX has per-channel equalization, compression and noise gate and can load effect plugins in Steinberg's Virtual Studio Technology format.
Mackie's Onyx 1640is is hybrid analog/digital mixer and FireWire recording interface with per-channel equalization that can route all 16 channels of 24-bit/96-Khz digital audio directly to Pro Tools. Users can also implement the 1640i as a control surface for performing mix-downs in Pro Tools in real time. The 1640i has two direct inputs for electric instruments and all mic inputs have preamplifiers with 48 volt phantom power.
The PreSonus StudioLive 24.4.2 is a 24-channel digital mixer with a FireWire port that allows it to interface with Studio One Artist DAW or ProTools. The StudioLive 24.4.2 uses XMAX microphone preamplifiers and has LED metering and per-channel controls for gating, expanding, limiting, filtering, compression and parametric equalization. The StudioLive 24.4.2 also has built-in digital effects, including reverb, delay and a preset manager with recommended settings for specific instruments and recording conditions. You can also store your own settings for specific sessions as presets and reload them at a later date.
Avid's Venue SC48 is a 48-channel, digital mixer designed with live music and Pro Tools LE in mind. The Venue SC48 has 16 line inputs, 48 combined microphone/line inputs, powered faders and per-channel digital compression, gating, expanding, limiting, pitch correction, delay and reverb. The Venue SC48 also comes with Avid's Venue software for mixing live events, which includes an additional set of digital signal processing plugins including spectral analysis, tape saturation and an amp simulator.
