How to Hold & Display LP Records

The "LP," or "long-playing" record, was once the primary format of recorded music. Those days are gone, but some LP records are valuable collectible items. LP records are fragile and have to be handled and displayed properly if you want to preserve them. If they're not, the records can suffer everything from minor scratches to major warps.

Instructions

    • 1

Lift the record with your hands positioned across from each other at either side of the record.

    • 2

Position LP records vertically with a complete absence of slant to prevent warping and bending.

    • 3

Place the LP inside a frame designed for records if you wish to display certain records that you don't plan to play periodically. Insert the record into its paper sleeve and then the sleeve into the album jacket and slide the album into the frame.

    • 4

Display the record in a cool, dry area out of direct sunlight. Keep the disc inside its jacket whenever it is not being played.
