The Scratch Live interface allows you to connect your mixer, turntables, CD-Js or controller to your computer to play your digital tracks when you DJ. The interface is the small box that connects your entire setup together.
With the software installed on your computer, you can perform several of Serato's functions without the interface, such as importing playlists and your iTunes library. Supported files include fixed and variable bit-rate MP3s, ALAC, WAV, CD Audio, AAC and AIFF. You can also organize your music and listen to one track at a time. Serato allows you to search through your music using different variables such as beats per minute (BPM), artist or genre.
The interface gets you connected so you can mix via the mixer and your chosen medium, whether at home or at a gig. Your mixer, turntables, CD-Js or controller, and computer all connect to the interface via inputs and outputs.
