Scratch Live software has the ability to set cue points that allow you to return to a specific point in your music at any given time. This is a useful feature to become familiar with, especially if you like to perform beat juggling during your sets. Many DJs use cue points to mark off exactly where they want a song to begin from during performances. Use cue points to skip song intros, or keep your favorite song sections available for immediate use.
Scratch Live has several useful keyboard shortcuts. If you do not have the time to study the shortcuts listed in the user manual or online, you can purchase a specially designed keyboard that outlines all of the Scratch Live shortcuts. Each key is color coded, provides the key's letter, the Scratch Live shortcut icon and a text shortcut for quicker access, whether you're using the right or left deck.
Scratch Live's looping feature provides seamless looping capability. You can create loops which interval from a fraction of a beat up to 32 beats or more. You can also create another loop within loops, allowing you ample opportunity to display your great creativeness with your performance.
Beatmatching is simplified with Scratch Live; simply line up the beats on both the songs you wish to mix and ensure they're both playing at the same rate. Scratch Live makes this easier by indicating the current BPM (beats per minute) of the tracks. Scratch Live also provides a visual bar at the top that displays little lines representing measure sizes in both tracks, allowing for precise matching.
