The Svetlana 6BM8 is a discontinued glass vacuum tube which is still in demand for use in guitar amplifiers. It was most recently manufactured in the Svetlana tube factory in St. Petersburg, Russia, which is said to be the largest remaining tube factory in the world. 1. Basic Specifications

    • The Svetlana 6BM8 is convection-cooled, and its glass envelope houses a pentode and a triode. Both the pentode and the triode are meant to supply power from the amplifier to a speaker or transmitter. The oxide cathode is indirectly heated, and operating it using DC power will provide the lowest possible hum and noise.

    Uses

    • The Svetlana 6MB8 may be used alone or in a pair. Alone, it serves as a low power mono amplifier, whereas a pair in ultra linear configuration provide additional power. It may also be used as a driver for higher powered amplifier tubes.

    • The Svetlana 6MB8 has a standard nine-pin miniature base connection system, which makes it compatible with the Svetlana SK-9A or other JEDEC 9EX socket. It is 22.2 mm wide and 71 mm high, with pin height of 7 mm. Its weight is approximately 20 grams, or 0.7 ounces.

    Main Technical Specifications

    • The maximum heater voltage of the Svetlana 6MB8 vacuum tube is 6.9 volts AC or DC. The DC plate voltage for the triode is 300 V and 600 V for the pentode. Plate load is 150,000 ohms for the triode and 7000 ohms for the pentode. The total output power of the tube is 1.8 watts.
