Determine the type of reader for whom you are writing and tailor your booklet to suit that person. Provide that type of person information on topics or information that is of interest to him or her.

    • 2

Research the information you will use in your booklet and assess the needs of the reader to create a booklet on a topic that you can easily write about.

    • 3

Use your expertise on a particular topic or field and share it with your readers in the booklet. Booklets should contain information on a topic about which you have knowledge or that you enjoy writing.

    • 4

Choose a catchy title for the booklet to grab readers' attention and make them interested in reading your booklet.

    • 5

Provide readers with 15 to 50 pages of useful information in the booklet. A good booklet should offer new insight, ideas, tips, solutions, strategies and steps that readers will find interesting. It should contain information that readers cannot find elsewhere; this will give the booklet a better chance of being purchased. Booklet formats include how-to and problem-solving manuals, demos, guides, recipes, instruction, educational and informational formats.

    • 6

Use your computer to type out the information and format your work using Microsoft Word. Edit the booklet to ensure it is grammatically sound, correctly spelled and any sources used are properly attributed.

    • 7

Design the cover and apply graphics, diagrams or pictures you want to include in the booklet.

    • 8

Self-publish your booklet by printing a copy at home using a printer. If you are planning to share or sell multiple copies of the booklet, take a copy to a photocopy center in your area, such as Fedex Kinkos. Ask them to print out the number of copies you want and bind the booklets using the book-binding, coil-binding, comb-binding or tape-binding methods.

    • 9

Publish your booklet online if you prefer to use a professional publishing service. Certain websites, such as Lulu and CreateSpace, have publishing services that include editing, formatting, cover design and marketing. They also offer a range of selling services for your booklet to be sold thorough various distribution channels.
