Behringer Ep1500 Specs

Behringer is a German manufacturer of audio equipment known for its full range of affordable products. The Europower EP1500 is a two-space rack mount power amplifier intended for sound reinforcement in small or medium clubs, or as a powerful amp for driving up to four monitor speakers. While it is a discontinued product, its solid-state circuitry and robust package suggests it is a good candidate for re-sale.
  1. Electronics

    • The EP1500 is a solid-state stereo amplifier capable of supplying two channels at 700 watts into a 2 ohm load or 1400 watts in 4 ohms in bridged mono operation. It allows for versatile operation, with a number of features not typically seen on power amplifiers at lower price points.

    Front Panel

    • Like most power amps, the EP1500 has a fairly empty faceplate. The power switch is on the extreme left and the power indicator on the extreme right. The center section is taken up with the grille for cooling fan exhaust, which blows front-to-back. Two gain controls sit to the right of the grille and each channel has both a signal indicator and a peak indicator, the bare minimum requirement, but typical of contemporary power amps.

    Rear Panel

    • The rear panel is where the EP1500 gets special. Input is via your choice of XLR or 1/4-inch phone jack. Output options are via Speakon compatible connectors or conventional bare wire posts. There is a breaker switch and power is supplied via a standard IEC connector. That's all straightforward. What sets the EP1500 apart is the DIP switchable MODE controls. Through the 10-switch package you can turn a clip limiter on and off for each channel, as well as turning a rumble filter on and even selecting its range. DIP switches also allow control over parallel and bridged operation.

    Overall Construction

    • The EP1500 weighs in at just under 35 lbs., a respectable weight for an amp of this power. The case is black with front panel handles typical of a power amp. The unit is thermally protected and will shut down in case of overheating.
