How to Connect speakON Cable
SpeakON connectors are a trademarked product of the Neutrik company, a dedicated system for connecting amplifiers and speakers. Previously, 1/4-inch phone plugs and jacks were used, which caused problems when speaker cables and instrument cables got intermixed. The friction fit of 1/4-inch plugs also fails with some frequency and can cause short circuiting upon connection and removal -- both serious issues when used with high-powered amplifier/speaker arrays. SpeakON connectors allow solid, positive connections ideal for loudspeaker applications.

1
Insert the male cable end into the female panel connector on the amplifier or speaker. The SpeakON system has two guide pins, one wider than the other. Matching the pins is necessary before the male end will insert.

2
Twist the male plug clockwise until the spring latch catches with a physical and audible "click."

3
Release a SpeakON cable by pulling back on the locking tab or ring and twisting the connection counterclockwise until the tabs line up and the cable slides out.
