Is extra bass harmfull for ears?
Yes, extra bass can be harmful for ears due to high sound pressure levels (SPLs). Prolonged exposure to high SPLs, common in bass-heavy music or environments, can damage the sound-sensing cells (hair cells) in the inner ear and cause noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL). The risk of NIHL increases with higher sound levels as well as longer exposure durations. So while occasional brief exposures to a little extra bass should be ok, it's essential to limit both volume and extended listening or experiencing of bass-heavy sounds to protect your hearing long-term.
