The Havana International Jazz Festival, inaugurated in 1979, has become one of the most popular jazz festivals in the world. Year after year, the festival brings world-renowned jazz musicians and cultural events to the city of Havana, Cuba in Casa de la Cultura de Plaza. Sponsored by the Cuban Institute of Music, the event highlights the connection between Cuban jazz music through exhibits, lectures, conferences, workshops, and performances, featuring jazz bands and soloists from over 50 countries.
The Cuban Jazz Festival takes place in the Rochford Winery in Melbourne, Australia. The festival, which typically takes place on one Sunday in October, features a combination of live Cuban bands, jazz, salsa dancers, and DJs spread over four entertainment arenas. This event is set in front of the lake on the vineyard stage. The main stage allows for crowd dancing, accompanied by the beat of high-energy bongos, sax, trumpets, drums, conga, and vocals. Gates open at 11 a.m., and the event finishes at 5.30 p.m. The $50 ticketed event includes all entertainment, meals, and a wine-tasting event.
During Hispanic Heritage, Broward County, Florida, celebrates with an event named, ¡VIVA BROWARD! This month-long festival commemorates the diversity, customs, and traditions of Hispanic Heritage Month. Although for the past 18 years, the event has taken place in downtown Fort Lauderdale, it has now moved to the newly renovated Pompano Citi Centre on the corner of Copans Road and Federal Highway in Pompano Beach, Florida. The festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Festivities include Hispanic jazz music, food, dance, and art. Past events have been headlined by Cuban jazz artist Nestor Torres and have offered free salsa lessons, folkloric shows, arts and crafts, health screenings, educational displays, and voter registration, as well as entertainment for children.
