In 2009 Winter Park celebrated the 50th anniversary of their annual Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival. One of the most prestigious outdoor art festivals in the country, the Art Festival has been recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts, The White House, and Congress for its dedication to promoting the arts and art education. Put on by the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival Foundation, the event features original artwork and jazz music from 225 national and international artists. In 1997 the Foundation established the Emerging Artist Program which provides artists and musicians who have never exhibited or sold their work at an outdoor showcase before the opportunity to showcase their talents at no personal expense. The three day event features family activities and jazz performances each night.

2010 marked the first ever INDABA Art & Jazz Festival. The Festival is a collaboration between the Bethune-Cookman University National Alumni Association, the Rollins College Black Student Union and the Polasek Museum. The INDABA Festival showcases world class performances and exhibits featuring arts, crafts, and authors of poetry, children's literature, and non-fiction works. Proceeds from the INDABA Festival benefit the scholarship and marketing initiatives of the Bethune-Cookman University Alumni Association.
