Jazz Festivals in Philadelphia

The City of Brotherly Love is a strong supporter of the arts, with performing and public art installations at the forefront. As evidence, the city features the Walnut Street Theater, which is the "oldest continually operating theater in the U.S.," and 2,700-plus murals via the Mural Arts Program--more than any city in the world, as claimed on The Philadelphia Mural Arts Advocates website. Music is encouraged through the Academy of Music, the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Pennsylvania Ballet and the Opera Company. The city's Live 8 concert brought nearly three quarters of a million people together in 2005; jazz can be found year-round at various venues or festivals.
