Maryland Blues Festivals

Home to over a dozen blues clubs including the Baltimore Blues Club, the Gold Blues Club and the Western Maryland Blues Club, the state of Maryland has a long and passionate history with blues music. Along with playing host to a number of blues festivals throughout the state, Maryland is also home to Severn Records, an independent record label promoting blues and soul music, located in an old ranch house in Anne Arundel County.
  1. The Chesapeake Bay Blues Festival

    • Held annually along the waters of the Chesapeake Bay at Sandy Point State Park near Annapolis, the Chesapeake Bay Blues festival is one of the largest blues festivals in the state of Maryland. Boasting amazing views of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, sandy beaches and an array of vendors, the Chesapeake Bay Blues Festival hosts some of the biggest names in blues including Buddy Guy, Chuck Berry, Bobby Parker and the Yardbirds. More importantly, money generated by the festival is donated to various charities including the Special Olympics Maryland and We Care and Friends; the festival is entirely staffed by volunteers.

The Western Maryland Blues Fest features artists like Eden Brent, The Tommy Castro Band and The Tonehounds, and has been held in many of Hagerstown's more historic locations including Hagerstown's Public Square and The Maryland Theater. This event is held each year on the weekend following Memorial Day.
