The Benefic Chamber Music Camp is held at Ball State University in Muncie, IN. The week-long camp is geared toward wind and string students who are 15 to 20-years-old. Daily activities include private lessons, student performances, workshops, improvisation classes, preparing for an audition, maintaining an instrument and sight-reading. All classes and workshops are taught by faculty from Ball State University, DePauw University and members of both the Cincinnati and Indianapolis symphony orchestras.
The week-long music clinic at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Bloomington is designed for high school students in string, brass, woodwind and percussion. Students are accepted from throughout the United States and have the chance to work with faculty from Indiana University, conductors and performers. The main focus of the clinic is performance, although other sessions are offered. At the close of the clinic, final concerts are given in the university’s Musical Arts Center.
Indiana University in Bloomington offers a summer piano academy through its Jacobs School of Music. Students will have the opportunity to work with university staff and performers in a variety of different classes and performance situations. Private lessons are incorporated into group class work, master classes, practicing with teachers and studying ensemble music. An audition is required, either prepared on a compact disc or DVD prior to acceptance.
The vocal arts workshop in Greencastle is designed for students in 9th through 12th grades. Along with singing classes, courses are offered in music technology, character development, musical theater staging, how to audition, movement and improvisation. Students have the opportunity to take private lessons and acting classes and at the close of the camp, a final recital performance is given for family and friends. Prior to being accepted, a application must be completed.
