How to Write CM7 Chords

Chords are groups of notes played at the same time or in succession. These notes form harmony, which serves as one of the fundamental building blocks of music. In a C Major seventh chord, you have a C chord with a seventh added. The term seventh in this example refers to a note that is seven steps up from root of the chord, which is C. In this case, that makes B the seventh. You can write a CM7 chord multiple ways.
