How to Add a Powered Subwoofer to a Bose Acoustimass 10

Bose is one of the leading manufacturers of home audio products and technology. The company began selling the Acoustimass speaker set in 1989. The Acoustimass series is made up of the Bose patented cube speakers. These speaker contain two drivers stacked on top of each other. These drivers can be twisted in opposite directions to more efficiently fill your room with high-quality sound. To add rumbling, low-end sound to your system, consider adding a powered sub-woofer like the Bose Acoustimass sub module. These sub-woofers will not require the use of external amplifiers, as they have one built in.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut off one end of your RCA cable with your cable cutters. Select an appropriate length cable that will reach from your powered sub to the other surround speakers. All speaker cables will be plugged directly into the back panel of the sub woofer. The sound matrix located within the sub will send the appropriate channel of audio to its corresponding speaker.

    • 2

Plug the RCA end of your cable into the speaker output on the back of your sub module. For example, if you are plugging in the center speaker, locate the center speaker out and plug in your cable.

    • 3

Use your wire strippers to remove the rubber insulator off the last inch of your cable. You will find two individual leads, one white and one red, each wrapped in its own insulator.

    • 4

Remove the insulator off of the last half-inch of the two individual wires.

    • 5

Locate the two small speaker cable input holes on the back of your Bose speaker.

    • 6

Plug the two small wires from your RCA cable into these holes. Use the red wire on the right hole and the white wire on the left.

    • 7

Repeat Steps 1 through 6 for the rest of your surround speakers.

    • 8

Plug one end of the multi-pin receiver cable into the corresponding port on the back of the sub module.

    • 9

Plug the other end of the multi-pin connector into the back of your Bose receiver.

    • 10

Plug in the power cord of your sub module.
