How to Rig a Mackie SRM450

The Mackie SRM450 Active Sound Reinforcement Speaker is a powered personal address unit. Passive PA speakers require external amplifiers, equalizers, and compressors to achieve their sound, but the active circuitry within the Mackie SRM450 eliminates the need for such external components, making for a highly portable PA unit that can be operated by simply connecting a microphone and turning up the volume.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the volume knob and power button on the back of the speaker. Turn the volume knob down by rotating it to the left and move the power button to the off position.

    • 2

Insert the three-pin IEC cable into the IEC port on back of the speaker.

    • 3

Insert the female end of the three-pin XLR cable into the microphone and insert the male end of the XLR cable into XLR port on the back of the speaker.

    • 4

Position the microphone to the side of the speaker.

    • 5

Press the power button on the back of the speaker and slowly turn the volume knob to the right to increase the volume. Stop when the speaker is at an appropriate volume.
