Lay your guitar pedals in a neat rectangle on the floor so that they face you in your preferred configuration. Connect them with pedal cables. If using a power strip to power your pedals, lay it along the top of the pedal row and plug the pedals into it. Experiment with pressing the pedals to make sure the configuration is convenient and comfortable.
Measure the sides of your pedal configuration with a tape measure. Add 1 inch to each side to ensure that you have enough room for your pedals.
Using a tape measure and straight edge, draw cutting lines onto a piece of 1/2-inch plywood with at least one smooth side. Put on gloves and safety goggles, and cut along the lines with a circular saw. Alternatively, bring your measurements to a hardware or lumber store and ask employees there to cut a piece to your specifications.
Smooth the edges of the plywood board, using sandpaper. Remove dust and dirt from both sides of the board with a cloth.
Cut enough strips of 2-inch Velcro to cover the surface of your board lengthwise. Peel the backing from the looped side of the Velcro strips. Affix the strips one by one to whichever side of the board is smoother, leaving little or no space between the strips. If the final piece of Velcro hangs over the edge of the board, trim the excess carefully with a utility blade.
Secure the Velcro strips to the board with a staple gun. Put a staple at the center of both ends of each strip. Add a staple every 3 or 4 inches thereafter. Hammer the staples down gently if necessary, so they don’t stick up.
Place the rubber feet on the underside of the pedal board, about 1 inch from each corner. Screw them in firmly. Add additional rubber feet at the center of the board and about 1 inch in from the center of each side, if your board is more than 2 feet long.
Measure and cut a piece of hooked Velcro for the bottom of each pedal; do not cover any screws or compartment covers you’ll need to access. Peel the backing from the hooked side of the Velcro. Press the sticky side of the Velcro onto the underside of each pedal. Do the same for the power strip, if you’re using one.
Stick your pedals to the board, following the configuration in Step 1.
