Position any tuning pedals first in the sequence on your pedal board. Plug your guitar cable into this kind of pedal first before any others to ensure clean tuning ability.
Line up filter or wah-wah pedals next in the sequence with any compressor pedals lined up afterward, attaching them to the previous filter pedals in a continue cable connection, one after the other. Use small, stubby cables to make the short-distance connections.
Locate all your loud pedals such as distortion and overdrive units. Connect these next in the sequence to allow a cranking-up of the sound once you have perfected it with tuners and filters ahead of the line. Modulating-type pedals should be installed afterward.
Overall sound and echo pedals come last in the chain sequence on your pedal board. Continue connecting all the pedals with stubby cables, attaching your additional volume pedal and reverb pedal last in the sequence. Set the final connection from the reverb pedal to be the cable that goes from the pedal board to the amplifier.
Check that all your pedals are working with fresh, new 9-volt batteries. Use a small screwdriver to access their back panels if necessary and replace the power cells if needed.
Turn everything on, including your amplifier. Plug a lead cable into your guitar and place the other end into your first pedal on the pedal board. Keep every pedal in the "Off" position. Play the guitar to make sure the circuit is working and a signal is reaching the amplifier. Sequentially, test each pedal on the pedal board to confirm it works.
Use the pedal board and equipment as desired.
