How to Tune an iTrip

The iTrip is an FM transmitter that allows you to broadcast the music from an iPod to any FM radio. If, for example, you want to play your iPod in a car that cannot connect to an MP3 player, the iTrip allows you to transmit your audio content wirelessly. Before you can tune your iTrip, you must install the software onto your computer using the included CD-ROM. Then you transfer the software to your iPod using the "Sync" option in iTunes, in the same way you transfer music.

Instructions

Scan the FM dial on your radio and find a frequency with only static. For instance, if 89.7 contains faint music from a faraway radio station, but 89.9 transmits only white noise, choose 89.9 as your frequency.

Plug your iTrip into your iPod by inserting the 1/8-inch plug into your headphone port.

    • 3

Turn on your iPod and click "Playlists" on your main menu.

    • 4

Select "iTrip Stations" from the list and scroll down until you locate your chosen frequency on the list. Click the "Select" button on your iPod after you highlight the appropriate frequency number. The red light on the iTrip will begin to flash.

Click the "Pause" button on your iPod while the light flashes. The light will flash three more times and remain lit, indicating a successful tuning.
