Select the type of Shure earphones suited specifically to your needs. The two types currently available are SE and SCL. If you wear earphones for the purpose of listening to music, choose the SE style. If you're a professional musician and need to block all sound while rehearsing or listening to your music, go with SCL.
Select the color you want. Shure earphones come in a variety of colors, such as black, pink, blue, red and clear. If you want your earphones to stand out, choose a bright color. Black and clear are less obtrusive.
Choose the size that best fits your ear canal. Shure earphones come in small, medium and large. The earphones should be able to fit into your ear canal without falling out. Put each size, one at a time, into your ear canal. When you find a size that is not too large or too small, then you have found the correct size.
Decide which way you want to place your earphones in your ears. You can either wear Shure earphones by putting the cable over your ear or allowing it to hang down. If you want maximum sound blockage, wear Shure earphones by putting the cable over your ear.
Separate the right earphone from the left earphone. The Shure earphones have small labels on them—R for right and L for left— that distinguish which ear they should go into.
Place the end of the earphone cable either in front of you or behind you. With Shure earphones, you can place the end of the cable anywhere you want.
