How to Use a Flash Drive with WMA Files

A flash drive is a convenient device for toting around your WMA (Windows Media Audio) files. By keeping your WMA files on a flash drive, you can easily take your files from computer to computer so that you can listen to them no matter where you are. You will, however, have to use WMA compatible software in order to play back the WMA files on the computer you are using.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug your flash drive into your computer.

    • 2

Click the "Start" button, located in the task bar, and select "My Computer."

    • 3

Double click on the flash drive icon that appears in the "My Computer" window to open it. Then drag and drop the WMA files you would like to transfer onto the flash drive into this window.

    • 4

Eject the flash drive from the computer. You now have a flash drive full of WMA files at your disposal.

    • 5

Plug your flash drive into another computer. Then click the "Start" button, select "My Computer" and double-click the flash drive icon to open it.

    • 6

Double-click on the WMA file you would like to play to open it. If on a Windows based computer, the WMA file will open in the Windows Media Player by default. If on a Macintosh computer, the WMA will open in iTunes, but will have to be converted to an iTunes compatible format before it will playback.

Eject the flash drive when finished using the computer. You have now successfully used a flash drive with WMA files.
