How to Use the Sound Module With Music Creator 4

When using a sound module with Music Creator 4 with live instruments, you need a MIDI device, a USB connection cable, which is supplied with the sound module, and two MIDI cables. The sound module is a soundbank/audio interface that provides instrument tones, drum sets and numerous vocal effects that you can use in the Music Creator application.

Instructions

  1. Setting up the Sound Module

    • 1
      Connect the USB cord.

      Turn the sound module off. Plug the USB connection cord into the "Computer" port on the sound module. Plug the other end into the USB port on your computer.

      Connect MIDI cables to an instrument.

      Plug the external instruments into the "MIDI IN" and "MIDI OUT" ports on the sound module by using the MIDI connection cords, if using them.

      Plug in the AC adapter.

      Connect a microphone to the back of the sound module in the "Microphone" port. Plug the AC adapter into the sound module "DC IN" slot. Turn the sound module on by pressing the "Power" button located on the back.

      Check sound card and sound module.

      Configure the sound module by selecting "Options" and "MIDI Devices." Ensure a "Check" is next to your computer sound card and the sound module. Click "OK" once finished.

      Set MIDI channel to 1.

      Create a new track in Music Creator by selecting "File" from the top menu. Select "New." Turn on your external instrument, if using one. Set the MIDI channel to "1." Right-click the "Track Display." Select "Insert MIDI Track" from the side menu.

      Select desired sounds or effects.

      Click the "Output Field," which is located on the left in the "Track Window." Select the output to which your MIDI device is connected from the list. Scroll through the soundbank on the sound module. Choose an instrument sound or effect that you wish to have uploaded to your MIDI device.

      Record the selected notes from device.

      Play the MIDI device to ensure you selected the proper sound. Click the red "Arm" button, which is located on the left in the "Track Window." Click the "Record" button, which is located on the "Transport" bar. Play the selected notes from your MIDI device. Press the "Stop" button once you are finished recording.

      Save recording to your computer.

      Create new MIDI tracks for each additional instrument you wish to use. Create new audio tracks if you wish to record from the microphone. Save the recording to your computer by selecting "File" from the top menu. Select "Save."
