Open Windows Media Player.
Click "Burn" and drag the WMA file you would like to convert into a smaller file into the "Burn List" that appears on the right-hand side of the program's screen.
Insert a blank CD-R into your computer and click "Start Burn." In order to convert a WMA file in Windows Media Player, you must burn it to a CD. This is because Windows Media Player does not have a "Convert" option. Instead, you must rip files from a burned CD in order to convert them.
Click the "Rip Settings" button, select "Format" and choose a compressed audio format such as MP3. Then click "Rip Settings," select "Audio Quality" and choose a low bit rate (such as 92 kbps). This will determine the audio format and quality that the WMA file is converted to.
Click the "Rip CD" button, and the WMA file will be ripped from the CD and converted into the audio format you chose. You have now successfully converted a WMA file into a smaller file.
Open Switch.
Click "Add Files" and select the WMA file you would like to convert into a smaller file.
Select a compressed audio format, such as MP3, from the "Output Format" menu. Then click "Encoder Options" and choose a lower bit rate (such as 92 kbps). This will determine the audio format and quality that the WMA file is converted to.
Click "Convert," and the WMA file will be converted into the audio format you chose. You have now successfully converted a WMA file into a smaller file.
Open dBpoweramp.
Click "Browse" and select the WMA file you would like to convert into a smaller file.
Select a compressed audio format, such as MP3, from the "Converting To" menu. Then slide the "Estimated Bit Rate" slider to choose a lower bit rate (such as 92 kbps). This will determine the audio format and quality of the WMA file is converted to.
Click "Convert," and the WMA file will be converted into the audio format you chose. You have now successfully converted a WMA file into a smaller file.
